Our behavioral health services are integral to providing care that meets the medical, social and emotional needs of our patients. We have developed a fully integrated medical and behavioral approach to treatment.
Northeast Health System provides acute inpatient psychiatric services at BayRidge Hospital and the Leland Unit at Beverly Hospital. The Inpatient Behavioral Health Service has 92 acute adult beds for the treatment of mental health and substance abuse problems. Beverly Hospital's Leland Unit has 18 beds; Addison Gilbert Hospital's Senior Adult Unit has 12 beds servicing patients age 60 and over; BayRidge Hospital in Lynn has 62 beds. The majority of admissions come through our emergency departments. The Emergency Psychiatric Service as part of the Inpatient Behavioral Health Service, evaluates patients in and accepts referrals from the emergency departments.
The Consult and Liaison (C & L) Service provides psychiatric services to patients on the medical floors, so that patients' medical treatment can proceed in a safe and effective manner.
Other services include partial hospitalization programs at BayRidge and Beverly, which provide outpatients with daily group and individual therapy for six hours a day in order to reduce time spent in the hospital. The DISCOVER Program at Addison Gilbert Hospital is a similar program, providing structured outpatient addiction treatment. ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) services are provided at Beverly and Addison Gilbert hospitals for both inpatients and outpatients. In addition, there are outpatient behavioral health clinics on each campus.
Other integrative services include community-based mental health and substance abuse prevention, addiction and rehabilitation programs for the North Shore and Lower Merrimack Valley communities. One such community-based group providing a comprehensive array of care is Health and Education Services, Inc. (HES). HES provides mental health and substance abuse services offering prevention, intervention and treatment for those whose needs might otherwise go unmet. CAB Health & Recovery Services, Inc. offers individually tailored treatment, referring clients from program to program within and across the agency.
